The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 650 staff from 49 countries.

Context And Mission


Within the Management Department and reporting the Managing Director, the mission of the Legal Advisor will be to provide legal advice on all matters concerning the Center, ensuring continuously compliance with current regulations.


Key Duties
  • Provide legal advice on contracts, projects and agreements between the BSC and other institutions
  • Coordinate the external law services (external lawyers and the state attorneys)
  • Give updates on legislative matters
  • Legal support in technology transfer activities (Spin-off creation, patents, other)
  • Responsible of Personal Data Protection policies
  • Draft legal action documents, administrative appeals and legal statements
  • Collaborate in the preparation of Public Procurement documents
  • Manage legal proceedings with public institutions
  • Authenticate documents


  •  Education
    • University degree in Law
    • Specific postgraduate training in public law will be valued
  •  Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
    • At least 5 years of experience on a similar role
    • Specific knowledge of public institutions
    • Experience in an international environment
    • Experience in a Research or Academic centre
    • Excellent verbal and written Spanish, Catalan and English
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft office
    • Knowledge of European research projects
    • Knowledge in technology transfer & Intellectual property
  •  Competences
    • Fluent level of Spanish, oral and written (for Spanish documents processing)
    • At least medium level of English, oral and written
    • Ability to work in a professional environment within a multidisciplinary and international team
    • Ability to work independently and with diverse internal teams
    • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure
  • The position will be located at BSC within the Management Department
